About Me:
As an evolutionary ecologist, I am driven by a deep interest in the fundamental processes that shape the natural world. My research provides foundational insights into how organisms have evolved and continue to adapt, laying the groundwork for future applied ecological solutions. I investigate how plants adapt to extreme and drastic climates, especially within the unique ecosystems of the Southwest. Using manipulative experimental approaches in both the field and greenhouse settings, I explore how specialized traits emerge in response to challenging environments, revealing patterns of adaptation that resonate globally in similar climates.
Beyond my research, I am a proven project manager and problem-solver, adept at navigating complex research challenges and optimizing interpersonal dynamics within a team. My experience includes leading and mentoring undergraduates through extensive research projects, developing comprehensive risk assessment and field safety training programs (successfully integrated across departments), and fostering diversity and inclusion in both teaching and research settings.
